You can send a cake as a gift in Baku without being there yourself: in the order form, tick “The recipient is someone else”, add their name and phone number, then pick a date, a one-hour time slot and how the cake gets there — by courier or Bolt Delivery. The lettering on the cake is free and does the job of a greeting card. Your order is accepted once we confirm it on WhatsApp. Below we explain how to place a gift order step by step, how to keep it a surprise and how to match the cake to the person.
How to send a cake as a gift to someone else
A gift order works almost exactly like a regular one — only a few fields differ:
- Choose a design in the bento cake catalogue, set the size, sponge, filling and lettering, and click “Order this cake”.
- In the form, choose how the cake gets to the recipient. For courier delivery, enter the recipient’s address: street, building, apartment. The “Pick on map” button lets you mark the exact building — a link to that spot is added to the message.
- Pick the date and a one-hour slot — a time when the recipient will definitely be there.
- Enter your own name and phone number: these fields are required, and we use them to finalise the order with you.
- Tick “The recipient is someone else” and add the name and phone number of the person you are celebrating.
- Click “Send via WhatsApp” and wait for us to confirm — the order is only accepted once we have.
The recipient’s details go into the same message as the rest of the order, and we send the confirmation and any questions to you on WhatsApp.
How to keep it a surprise
A good surprise is about more than the cake — it’s also the moment it arrives. A few simple rules:
- Pick an hour when the person is sure to be there. You choose a one-hour slot in the form: before lunch is best for an office, after work for a home address.
- Find an accomplice. Let someone in the recipient’s family or office know: they can make sure the person you are celebrating is around and keep the secret. It’s also better to get the address from them than from the recipient.
- Tell us on WhatsApp. We go over the delivery details with you when we confirm the order — that’s the moment to mention that the cake is a surprise.
- Want to hand it over yourself? Choose pickup and take the cake to the recipient in person.
Design and lettering: a cake instead of a card
With a gift, what matters most is that the person recognises themselves in the cake. Go by their taste, not yours: their favourite colour or character, a shared joke, a photo. Lettering is free in English, Russian or Azerbaijani — choose the language the recipient speaks. A gift message usually has three parts:
- who it’s for — their name or a pet name;
- the occasion — “Happy birthday”, “Thank you”, “I miss you” or simply “This is for you”;
- a signature — who the cake is from, if you are not handing it over yourself.
And if you’d like a favourite photo on the cake, we print it in edible ink: a photo cake costs the same as a regular bento of the same size.
If nothing in the catalogue feels quite right, design a cake around the recipient in the online cake builder: pick their favourite of 19 cream colours, add pictures or their photo (up to three images), up to three lines of text and a border. You can see the cake in 3D before you order, and a link to the design is added to the WhatsApp message.
Who gets which cake: gift ideas
The tone of the gift depends on who will open the box: warmth for mum, a declaration of love for your other half, a short “thank you” for a colleague and, for a friend, a joke only the two of you get. A few ideas to start with:
| For | Idea | Format |
|---|---|---|
| The one you love | Hearts, a drawing of a couple, “my favourite person” or a date that means something to you both | Bento for 1–2 |
| Mum or parents | Warm words, flowers, a family drawing or a photo | Bento for 3–4 — for tea with the family |
| Sister or friend | Her name, a shared joke, a photo in a Polaroid frame | Bento for 1–2 or a bento set |
| Husband, dad, brother | A muted cream colour, a short phrase or a photo | Bento for 1–2 or 3–4 |
| Teacher, doctor, colleague | A thank-you cake: “thank you with love” or your own words | Bento for 1–2 or Cake to go |
| Someone you miss | A short “I’ve missed you” and a simple drawing | Bento for 1–2 |
| A team, a class, a group of friends | A message for each person | Bento set or 6–9 Cake to go cups |
We have separate guides on which cake to give a girlfriend, wife or sister and how to choose a cake for a man. Here are a few designs from the catalogue that work well as gifts:
The couple drawing with “my favourite person” suits an anniversary — or no occasion at all — while the outline sheep with “I’ve missed you” is a message in cake form: we can swap the phrase for your own.
Bento sets and Cake to go: when you’re celebrating several people
A bento set comes in handy when you are celebrating several people at once — a family, a department or a class: the box holds three or four mini cakes, and each can carry its own message. The chocolate-and-pink set with candles, flowers and “best sister ever” is a ready-made gift for a sister or a close friend.
Cake to go — a mini cake in a cup with a wooden spoon and a candle — makes a nice compliment for a colleague, a thank-you for a teacher or a surprise for no reason: there is nothing to cut or serve. Sets start at two cups, and for an office celebration we put together six or nine, each with its own drawing and wish.
| Format | What kind of gift | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Bento cake 300–350 g | For one person or a couple — in a white clamshell bento box | 25 ₼ |
| Bento cake 750–800 g | Family tea, 3–4 people | 35 ₼ |
| Bento cake 1200–1500 g | A party with guests or an office celebration, 7–8 people | 60 ₼ |
| Bento set | 3 or 4 mini cakes, each with its own message | 75 / 100 ₼ |
| Cake to go | A little treat for colleagues or a teacher; 2 cups of 170–190 g or 270–290 g | 25 / 30 ₼ for 2 |
The price depends only on the size, not on how complex the design is, so you know what the gift will cost up front.
When to order and how to deliver the gift
The earliest date you can pick in the form is two days ahead, so plan ahead — and further ahead still before holidays: the sooner you message us, the easier it is to get the day you want. Keep our schedule in mind:
- Sunday is our day off. If the occasion falls on a Sunday, celebrate the day before, on Saturday, or on Monday evening.
- Saturday — you can get the cake between 11:00 and 14:00.
- Monday — from 17:00 at the earliest.
Choose the delivery method that suits your plan:
- Courier — brings the cake to the recipient’s address Monday to Friday from 11:00 to 20:00, and on Saturday from 11:00 to 14:00.
- Bolt Delivery — weekdays from 11:00 to 22:00, handy for an evening surprise. We message you on WhatsApp when the cake is ready, then you book a Bolt courier to our address yourself and send the cake on to the recipient.
- Pickup — if you want to hand the cake over in person: collect it and take it to the recipient yourself.
Delivery hours, pickup and how confirmation works are covered in detail in our step-by-step guide to ordering a cake in Baku.
